Delivering Audio Visual solutions for a Lecture Theatre upgrade at the University of Bolton

The University of Bolton independently organised a TED X event. CDEC were approached at the end of February to provide the upgrade to the theatre projection and audio system in time for a prestigious TEDx Presentation that was to take place in the theatre on the 8th March.

Project Brief

The University of Bolton is a modern, compact University in the North West of England with around 11,000 students.

The University’s teaching quality has consistently won the highest ratings possible from the Government’s Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) and it has professional accreditation for more than 25 of its teaching programmes.

The University had recently taken over the former Bolton Sixth Form College site and as such needed to up-grade the old theatre at the Queens Specialist Building to make it more suitable for the University’s needs.

CDEC installed a brand-new 4m screen, Epson Ceiling Projector and Extron control in the Upstairs mixing gantry, and also enabled everything to be controlled from the wall by the stage area, ensuring that hosts could present ad-hoc from anywhere and that the University could stage productions using the existing mixing desk on the gantry.
