By following this step-by-step you may find that you can simply solve the problem yourself without the need to call an engineer. If a problem still persists contact CDEC for support on 0845 456 2179.
You get no image whatsoever, there is no manufacturers logo displayed, there is no light coming from the projector lense !
Check to see if there is power going to the projector, LED LIGHTS should be lit on the projector.
If there are no LEDS lit, check to see if the projector is plugged into the mains supply and that the mains switch is ON.
Check that the mains lead is firmly pushed into the projector.
If the mains lead is connected correctly but the projector still doesn’t work contact CDEC for additional support.
The manufacturer’s logo was displayed, there is light coming from the projector lense but your computer image isn’t displayed!
Check to see if the computer or laptop is switched on
Is the computer or laptop in hibernation/sleep mode, ensure that you can see an image on the normal monitor/ laptop screen.
Is the VGA lead firmly connected between the computer and the projector (or connector plate if projector is ceiling mounted).
Is the correct source selected for the projector; ensure that the projector is set for computer mode (sometimes referred to as RGB) and not video, s-video etc. If it is not selected for the computer press Source/Input or RGB on the remote control or projector itself , some projectors will have the ability to take 2 RGB inputs therefore please make sure you press RGB again if you don’t get a response on the first channel , the projector will display a message saying something like “No Input On RGB 1” or “No Input On RGB 2” , pressing RGB again will switch from one to the other.
Check to see if the image has not been muted (some projectors do not have this function). If the image has been muted press (AV mute/blank) button on the remote control or projector itself.
Try powering down the projector, turning off the mains supply for 30 secs. and then restarting.
Try powering down the laptop/computer, turning off the mains supply for 30 secs. and then restarting.
Additional notes for laptop users.
Laptops have the ability to dual screen (to see an image either on the laptop screen or an external screen or both). On some laptops this function made need to be activated.
Most laptops will simply have a [Fn] button assigned to a key to toggle between the projector and screen or both. The sequence is usually [Fn] & F5 or [Fn] & F8, both pressed simultaneously. The function key will normally be labelled by an image of two monitor screens or LCD/Monitor.
Some laptops may need the dual monitor function enabling in the BIOS and/or via display settings from the Windows Control Panel (refer to your laptop manufacturer)
If in doubt whether dual screen output is the cause of the problem try connecting a normal PC workstation and see whether you obtain an image, if you do then the problem is due to the settings of your laptop.
With newer interfaces like certain editions of Windows XP or Vista, you can simply right click and choose "Graphics Options" and "Output To" and select your format.
I do get an image but either the left or right hand side has been cut off.
Press Auto Image on the remote control or projector, in most cases this will rectify the problem.
I do get an image but the image has severe discolouration.
Ensure that the VGA cable between the computer and projector (or input connector plate if projector is ceiling mounted) is firmly connected. In most cases this will rectify the problem.
I have plugged in a VCR/DVD player but no image is displayed. The projector worked fine with a computer.
Ensure that the VCR/DVD is plugged in, switched on and is set to play. If in doubt try getting an image on a conventional TV. Ensure that the cable between the VCR/DVD and projector (or input connector plate if projector is ceiling mounted) is firmly connected. Is the correct source selected for the projector; ensure that the projector is set for video mode (if using a standard composite or phono lead) or S-Video if using a S-Video. If it is not selected for the computer press Source/Input on the remote control or projector itself until the correct setting is obtained.
The image has frozen.
Check to make sure that image has not been frozen via the remote control or projector, Press Freeze on the Remote Control or Projector to see if this cures the problem. Power down both projector and computer, turn off mains supply for 30 secs and restart.
